Just a followup note from being out in the sun on Saturday at the Billetproof show in Ypsilanti MI with Steve. The show is pre-65 no billet rat rod show and I must say I had an awesome time. The sun, my son, the people and of course, the cars is a real motivator. I was pretty sure I would see some great ideas to incorporate in my own project and sure enough, they were there. It was also a motivator with the point being, as Steve was so kind to point out, I needed to quit being such a nit picker and get the mechanicals lined out, get it up and running and let the body be for now. He also pointed out that it was actually better than some that were there. I had to agree with him. And to top it of, a 54 Ford was there that had a very similar layout (engine, trans, rear end) to mine. And the choice for a shifter was identical also. An extended conversation and some looking around netted some excellent info and details. All in all, I must say that between the sunshine, my sons insights and the cars I got a more pointed view of what has to get done. Now if I can pull it off. Heading back into the shop to get back at it. Brakes and fuel lines are the prime project and the wiring harness is ready to go in! Stay tuned!

This world class event does bring the world to Detroit. But like everything else there is cost involved. This Detroit News article highlights some of the moe transparent costs that are involved. Like the website, porta-johns and legal services. Just to mention a few.
Dream Cruise fun comes with costs for communities on route. What does it cost to put on the world’s largest one-day classic-car extravaganza, aka the Woodward Dream Cruise? No one — not even Woodward Dream Cruise Inc. — can say for sure. Jennifer Chambers / The Detroit News

The day started out crappy but ended up being sunny and nice. We had a great time and all the people that stopped by were super.
I have my pics from the store lot at the corner of 9 and Gratiot out on Flicker.

Birmingham plans scaled-back show It looks like Birmingham is using the excuse of Shain Park expansion to cut back on their Dream Cruise participation.
I know this is really planning ahead a bit but I remain hopeful that this is gonna happen. I am currently trying to deide which of the 2 major venues to go to for 2009. I have done the Pontiac Phoenix Plaza location quite a few times and enjoyed it immensely and I have also come to like the Ferndale RetroFest at 9 and Woodward in the last few years. I will be promoting my Car Deco furniture more this coming year and it may come into play on this decision. We will see how it goes. Kind of a bad time to start a biz but more later.
